Volunteers Needed for Junefest!

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!  We need everyone’s participation for Junefest 2013!  So many great ways to be a part of all the Junefest fun!  We have a huge variety of game booths: Ace & Face, Balloon Blaster, Bars & Bells, Basketball Toss, Beat the Dealer, Big Six, Candy Toss, Cola Toss, Crack the Safe, Crazy Ball, Crazy Hat, Crazy Wheel, Duckie Downs, Goldfish Toss, Hi-Lo, Money Wheel, Pringles Toss, Quarter Toss, Putt-Putt, Roll-a-Score, Rolling for Dough, Speed Kick, Speed Pitch and Whiffle Ball Toss.

3rd Graders Make Lunches for Food Bank

On Thursday, April 25th the 3rd grade class made lunches for the St. Vincent de Paul Bank Street Food Bank. They had just finished their religion unit on being disciples of Jesus and sharing His mission to help all of God’s people. The classes discussed Mother Teresa and helping the poor of the community.

The children all participated by decorating their bags and by bringing in something they wanted to share with those in need. We packed the bags with sandwiches, fruit and a snack. Ultimately Mrs. Long brought 42 bag lunches to the food pantry. The third graders were all very happy and felt good about sharing.

Welcome Artist-in-Residence

We’d like to welcome artist Debbie Brod who has just begun a two week residency at Pacelli.  Ms. Brod will work with our students to create a piece of installation art that will be displayed permanently at the school.  She will collaborate with the 7th graders on a daily basis, as well as work with many other grades throughout the residency.  Ms. Brod began her residency with a presentation to the whole student body this morning.  We are very fortunate to have such an accomplished artist at Pacelli, and we are very thankful to the Fine Arts Committee and the Ohio Arts Council for making this residency happen. Jelly Bean Mosaic

This year’s Pascal masterpiece was again collaboration between the Fine Arts Committee and Helen Vonholle. Helen was the creative behind the Blessed Virgin Mary scene, and her 1st and 2nd grade classes, with some help from a few junior high students, completed the mosaic pattern with 13 lbs of jelly beans. A big thanks goes to Jill Giles for coordinating and to volunteers: Amy Mueller, Katie Greenwell, Grandma Greenwell, and Shannon McAffrey.

Junefest Bid & Buy Donations Needed!

Dear Pacelli Families:

Our parish-wide fundraiser – Junefest 2013 – is already in motion. One of the largest money-makers within Junefest is the Bid ’n Buy booth. The Bid ’n Buy committee is counting on many generous donors to contribute to the booth.

Our goal is to receive an item from every family in the parish, no matter how small. A batch of cookies, a DVD or gift certificates are just a few ideas. How wonderful it would be to reach this goal. Bid ‘n Buy donors are acknowledged in our catalog, and the gifts are tax deductible.

Not sure how you can help? Think of items that interest you. Following are just a few suggestions:

*Gift Cards: Specialty shops, restaurants, department stores, sports/music lessons, amusement parks.

*Sports: Game tickets (Reds, Bengals, XU, UC, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Cyclones,

ATP, etc.),memorabilia, equipment

*Crafts: Holiday items, handmade items, painted furniture, artwork

*Entertainment: Theater tickets, weekend getaways, dinner parties, DVD/CDs.

*Home Furnishings: Small appliances, furniture, china, crystal, artwork.

*Lawn & Garden: Trees, flowerpots, landscaping, grills, decorations

*Food & Meals: Homemade desserts, soups, cookbooks, beer, wine

*Vacation/Trips: Use of condo or vacation home, airline tickets, weekend getaways, hotel gift

certificates.

*Cash: It’s easy to donate and always needed. No amount is too small. Please make checks payable to Christ the King Junefest.

Thank you for your consideration. Please complete the donor form available HERE and was also included in the bulletin and return to the Parish Office or via the white envelope (for school families) by Monday, April 29th so we can include your donation in our catalog. You can drop off your donation to the Undercroft/Rectory basement on the following Fridays from 1-3 p.m.: April 19th, April 26th, May 3rd and May 10th.
