Pre-K Community Helper Week

The students at Cardinal Pacelli had some amazing experiences as they learned about many different occupations that are essential to their communities. They were visited by police officers from the Norwood Police Department, including Pacelli parent Erik Nelson, who talked to the children about being police officers and staying safe. The officers brought their police dog and even did a demonstration on how the dog can catch the “bad guys!” James Duffy, doctor at Mercy Health and Pacelli parent, also spent time talking with the children and gave them the opportunity to “scrub in for surgery” with gloves, goggles, and head coverings, as well as, practice on a CPR training manikin. The Pre-K even had the opportunity to share their experiences with their 5th grade buddies when Brody Cianciolo, a firefighter and Pacelli parent, showed the students his gear, allowing them to try on a Fireman’s coat and helmet. At the end of the week, the Pre-K children showed off what they want to be when they grow up, dressing as any community helper (or other occupation) of their choice.Police CPR Manikin Community Helpers1 Community Helpers2
